Indonesia Tax System & PPh 21 UU HPP Framework

Indonesia's personal income tax is regulated under the PPh 21 framework, updated by the UU HPP (Harmonization of Tax Regulations), which outlines tax brackets and BPJS social security deductions.

Tax Residency & PTKP Deductions

Residents are taxed on global income at progressive rates, while non-residents pay a flat 20% on Indonesian-source income. Taxable income is calculated after subtracting PTKP (non-taxable income threshold) which starts at IDR 54,000,000 for single individuals.

BPJS Kesehatan (Health Insurance)

Mandatory health insurance is split between employer (4%) and employee (1%), calculated based on monthly salary and capped at a maximum wage ceiling of IDR 12,000,000.

BPJS Ketenagakerjaan (Social Security)

Covers Old Age Protection (JHT: 2% employee, 3.7% employer) and Pension Protection (JP: 1% employee, 2% employer, capped at a monthly wage of IDR 10,977,600 for 2026), alongside occupational risk policies.
